The Tess Hatch Check Pencil Dress is stunning vintage inspired piece. She comes in a bespoke diagonal crosshatch print in white and gold on a navy cotton sateen. She’s a fitted style, ending approximately below the knee, featuring a square neckline and wide shoulder straps. She fastens at the back via a covered zip and features curved pockets at the front. She also has a matching waist tie in the same print, which adds an elegant vintage touch. Try pairing with a stack of bangles and the Maura High Heels in mustard.

4Hatch Check Fabulous, But More Heart Shape than Pencil

The fit was great, fabric print was excellent, and the quality of fabric is excellent.

The cut of the skirt is... different. Usually, a pencil dress cut is really fitted, but the hips are cut more wider that flares out. Pockets are nice and big and deep.

Straps are a little long but I'm can fix it.

So it's not a true pencil design. I don't know if they did that intentional because SIZE 12 customers may have big and wider hips to fit a pencil design. OR If it's just a part of the design choice.
You don't see it on the model as much, but when I where it, the extra fabric from the waist down shows. It's more of a fitted dress with a heart shaped/pegged skirt cut.
It's also narrow at the skirt opening because there is only one dress slit in the back. So when I walk it does restrict my leg movement than usually pencil dress I've worn.

It's alright. I have mixed feelings especially when its more heart shape dress than a classic tailored pencil dress.

I appreciate the concept they are trying to do. But I don't posses a fuller hip and thighs , so it looks a little bit saggy on me.

I think for some with nice curves in their hips and thighs will rock this heart shape design than me.

It's still a really good dress with a unique design, and something you can wear in the office then change to a date night outfit.
