Woman Crush Wednesdays
♡ Galdalou ♡

Hello again! We hope you are all loving our weekly WCW segment where we interview all the women that inspire us here at Collectif! We’re excited to bring you closer to fabulous women we have the privilege of working alongside. This week’s Woman Crush Wednesdays features a Q&A with the fabulous Galdalou, where we talk Harry Potter, tattoos and Collectif clothing of course! To discover more about Galdalou and why she inspires us – keep on reading!
1. We know you’re a huge fan of our brand. How long would you say have you loved Collectif?
I really am a huge fan, I’d say around 60% of my clothing wardrobe is Collectif. I first became aware of Collectif when stumbling across the brand in a reproduction vintage boutique in my hometown of Leicester around 7 years ago when I was 20. I fell in love with the shape, went home with a dress that day and immediately googled the brand when I got home. I was lucky enough to then have a friend who opened up her own boutique in Leicester which gave me very easy access to more and more styles!

2. What is your favourite go-to style from Collectif?
I have to say I absolutely love the Caterina shape. I own 7 colour ways in that dress alone! The shirt dress with a flared skirt suits my figure so well, and I’ve always found the fit impeccable, and despite the fact I’m a 34H, I don’t get problems with the buttons gaping because they’re nice and close together, something not many companies seem to think about.

3. We hear you’re also a big fan of Harry Potter! Which character from the series would you say you relate to most / who is your favourite character and why?
I really do! I’m just in the middle of my annual read through of the books, haha, and eagerly awaiting Luna Lovegood’s arrival! She is my favourite character because of her care free, loyal attitude. She puts no mind to other people trying to tear her down because of her “abnormal” ways, and I think that’s something a lot of people would like to aspire to.

4.  Which vintage fashion era was your favourite and why?
I would say for me the 50’s silhouette was EVERYTHING. As I mentioned before, fit and flare is my jam, and they did it with such wearable vigour in the 50’s. Capris pants are also excellent, and became most popular in that decade.

5. Your confidence is so inspiring, do you have any words of advice / wisdom on how to stay confident?
Fake it til you make it! If you come across as confident to other people, they’re naturally more drawn to you and that in turn will give you more confidence.

6. What are your top 3 picks from our spring and summer collection?
Well, living in England, you can’t really guarantee the weather, so my first pick is the Jane Gingham Trousers. I have a real weakness for gingham, and with these trousers being super high-waisted, I know they will be comfy and pull me in at the waist very nicely! My second choice is the gorgeous Carmen Cactus Dress which I was lucky enough to snag from my friends boutique as soon as it was released. My third and favourite pick is the Sandrine Rock Lobster Swing Dress which may well be my favourite thing Collectif has ever done! I absolutely LOVE the lobster print, in the repro vintage scene it’s so easy to see the same prints thrown out year after year, so this is an absolute breath of fresh air and I can’t wait to wear it this summer!

7. Do you have any hidden talents?
Nothing hidden, no! I’m really a very open book, so what you see is what you get with me.

8. Your tattoos are a huge part of your aesthetic, could you tell us a little bit about your first tattoo? Are you currently planning on getting any more?
My first tattoo was some cherries on my foot waaay back in the day! I think eventually I’ll be pretty much covered, but my next big project will be when I get started on my back piece. It’s going to be a verrrry big project, and as I’m just about to get married and buy and house, it’s not something I can afford to get started just yet.
9. Who or what inspires you?
I find inspiration daily from amazing women I see on Instagram living the life they want to live, from the women in my life who I work with and am friends with that provide support and love, and from the women in my family who have always allowed me to be the woman I have chosen to be 🙂
10. You’ve had many different coloured hairstyles – are there any colours you haven’t tried yet?
I genuinely think I’ve tried every colour I can now! I’ve been variants of green for a couple of years now, and I really love it so I’ll most likely be green for a little while longer! I get married on June 28th, and people keep asking what colour it’s going to be for the wedding, definitely green!
Thank you Galdalou for giving us the opportunity to get to know more about you and we wish you a lifetime of happiness. Enjoy the big day!
