Gift ideas for the Mum in your life!

With Mother’s Day shortly upon us, it’s time to show our appreciation and treat the one that raised you. Whether it’s your Mum, a special woman in your life, or if you’re the Wonder Woman juggling all that motherhood entails, we all deserve a treat. I’ve put together a few special picks to help you choose the most unique Mother’s Day gifts – after all, who doesn’t love the gift of a pretty dress, especially one with pockets!

So let’s skip the flowers this year and treat our blooming marvellous Mums to a fabulous outfit instead:

The Demira Gingham Daisy Swing Dress has the sweetest daisy print on bold blue and white gingham with delicate, elasticated, puff sleeves. The full swing skirt with pockets is a great shape, but practical too and very versatile to wear. It’s guaranteed to brighten up the school run or a special Mother’s Day lunch with your family.
As we transition into Spring with its sunny but cooler days, pair it with the Evie cardigan to keep things cosy but bright. Picking out the yellow from the daisies, it would combine really well with the Demira dress, and the discreet heart pattern is the perfect declaration of love and thanks.

If your Mum’s style is usually a pencil fit, or she prefers less pattern, then the blue Caterina plain pencil dresswould suit her well:

I love the linen feel of this dress and it’s in such a gorgeous pastel shade of blue; perfect to see your Mum through from Spring to Summer. There are pocket details to the front and sweet turn ups on the sleeves. I have quite a few Caterinas myself as it’s such a classic dress for a forties or fifties
inspired look. Red always goes so well with blue, so I’ve added the Loise cardigan which would add that pop of colour beautifully. The cropped length accentuates the waist and it has a v shaped, folded, collar which follows the neckline of the Caterina. Not only great for dresses, this simple but stylish knitwear looks great with high waisted jeans too for a more casual retro look.

My next selection is for busy Mums on the go that like to rock a comfy jean. Adding a few simple pieces to an existing outfit can easily transform your normal go-to style into vintage look clothing. The Dolores top works so well with denim, especially one with such a fresh, cheery, print:

With its wonderfully fruity print of vibrant oranges on navy, the Dolores top can be worn on or off the shoulders and has the most flattering sweetheart neckline. It’s easy to wear as it has elasticated
sleeves, and paired with your favourite jeans (just add a quick turn up), it instantly sends out rockabilly vibes with minimal effort.
Picking out the orange as an accent colour from the top, add retro accessories to tie in the look like the Carrie bag in orange – and it’s easy to open and close with just one hand if your little ones are keeping your other hand occupied!

Perhaps you have a special day planned over the weekend? The Judy Teacup Swing Dress is the ultimate choice for an Afternoon Tea treat:

The shape of this dress is so reminiscent of fabulous 50’s day dresses with its shirtwaister style, open neck collar and full skirt with pockets. Feel like you’ve instantly stepped into Spring with its gorgeous pastel stripe design. Definitely my cup of tea! You can size down in the Judy and if (like me) you prefer a cinched in waist, add the Maxine cinch belt to it. The pink or blue will complement the stripes in the dress and it’s elasticated to give a
comfortable fit while defining your waist.

So, which will you choose to celebrate in style on Sunday the 22nd? Enjoy your Mother’s Day ladies, whomever you spoil and however you spend the day.
