At Home With….

In the first of our new ‘At Home With’ series, we meet Senior Designer Talis who not only works on designs for Collectif but is responsible for the whole of our Bright & Beautiful label.

Talis takes us through her perfect stay at home edit, and gives us an insight into her lockdown world. From casual co-ords to flowing fabrics, she’s got you (comfortably) covered.

So Talis, tell us what you’re working on at the moment? Any exciting projects?

Right now I’m designing for next Spring / Summer,  and making some finishing touches to the upcoming Autumn / Winter 20 collections. I’m also working on some fun design based content to keep our lovely customers entertained during the lockdown. I loved creating the Collectif colouring book, it was so relaxing!  You can try it here

Sounds interesting! Can we have any insights into what’s coming for AW20?

Well I don’t want to give too much away, but you can expect to see a return of some core shapes from Bright & Beautiful, lots of vintage workwear vibes, and maybe even a little bit of 70’s boho chic in the mix.

A lot of people are looking for new home based outfit inspiration. What are your top 5 working from home looks from the current collections?

The Sue Tropical Palm shirt is perfect as you can leave it loose and flowing, or tie it up to give more shape. It goes perfectly with jeans and also as a co-ord with the Maria skirt.

Combining comfort and beauty, the Iris Harlequin comes in the prettiest colour, and is great for layering with a cardigan, T-shirt or turtleneck for colder days.

Jodie is such a fun jumpsuit and is so comfortable! The zebra print keeps you on trend and the shape is super flattering.

This co-ord from the ModCloth collaboration is amazing. Our classic Kiko trousers are loose and flowing and look amazing with the matching top, or a white blouse.

Our Fae dress has the secret weapon for home working – a drawstring waist! You can wear her loose and flowing or tighten her up to get some definition.

What have you been doing to switch off at the end of the day? Have you developed any fun hobbies or skills?

I love baking and have been creating something delicious at least once a week now… it’s so much fun and really relaxing.

Oooh do you have a favourite recipe you’d be willing to share with us?

Sure, here’s my favourite banoffee cake recipe. I also make an amazing carrot cake but can’t share the recipe as it’s a family secret!

Are you doing anything else to help ease the tension after a long day at your new desk?

I try to practice yoga every day as it really clears my mind. I may have been enjoying the garden a little too…

I’m also redecorating the hallway with Farrow and Ball India Yellow – I want it to be bright, fresh and tropical to make our days sparkle.

How about at the weekend?

You may find me dancing around the kitchen with a glass of wine at the weekends…! I’m lucky enough to have a garden and have been enjoying the BBQ.

Finally, what would you say you’re missing most right now?

I miss seeing my friends and workmates so much. Video calls are brilliant and help us to stay connected, but I can’t wait to get together in person when we can.

I’m also dreaming of my next holiday in the sun, as I’m sure a lot of people are!

Thank you Talis for letting us into your home and giving us an insight into your life.
Remember to keep safe and stay fabulous

Cool Calm Collectif
xoxo
