1950’s Summer Dresses

1950’s summer dresses

We’re more than excited for Spring and Summer when the flowers bloom, the sun shines and we jet off on our summer holidays. But our ultimate favourite part of the coming season is updating our Summer wardrobes; we have a variety of summer dresses to suit your tastes! If you are struggling with putting your outfits together or you’re new to 1950’s vintage fashion; we have created some looks to help inspire you this season!

We’re going absolutely bananarama this season by bringing you a sophisticated yet quirky summer outfit. We love banana prints for their fun, vibrant summer feels. If you’re not a fan of prints on your dresses we have our Keira plain swing dress, she’s similar to our Caterina but features a higher collar and buttons that stop at the waist. She comes in both black and mint green and is one of our beautiful 1950’s vintage swing dresses new to this season!

To add some banana fun we have paired her with our Shiela banana woven bag featuring embroidered yellow and green banana appliqué designs. For that extra jazzy element, she has black tassels running down each side!

To balance the yellow and black theme we have added our Banana-rama earrings giving you a quirky edge and a POP of colour! They match perfectly with our Maryjane block heel in yellow. She has a low heel for your comfort and is sure to brighten anyone’s day! You’ll definitely feel like you’re walking on sunshine!

To complete the look we have our classic 1950’s cat-eye shaped Amie sunglasses with black rims to balance out the black and yellow theme! Why not add a black or yellow head scarf and pin up your retro hair do!

We’re definitely feeling the mermaid vibes this season and we’re bringing you our chic, vintage inspired mermaid look! We’ve taken our Sasha vintage gingham fishtail dress which is a brand new style to our SS19 collection with her off the shoulder top and super flattering sweetheart neckline. This is created by pulling the cord at the front of the bust which ties into a neat bow.

Our Sasha is a vintage summer dress with her fitted, flattering style complete with a fishtail flare at the bottom. She comes in our black and white vintage gingham print for that sweet 50’s vibe.
To accentuate her mermaid vibes we have paired her with our gorgeous seashell bag complete with pearl clasps. She is made from a beautiful pastel pink suedette material which compliments the black and white gingham giving her a feminine 1950’s flair.  For jewellery, we’ve combined our seashell party earrings to match the seashell bag as well as the overall mermaid theme of this outfit. The earrings are made from white glitter resin with a pearls above each shell; pair them with your staple 1950’s pearl necklace!

If you’re unsure on how to style your hair, we would recommend a 1950’s up-do to show off that flattering off-the-shoulder  shape of our Sasha! Find more inspiration online for vintage hairdos that would complete your outfit! Or if you’d love something more simple, try some mermaid beach waves and pin back one side with our cute orchid hair flower.

For this outfit we were inspired by a more traditional 1950’s summer look. Our Caterina is one of our most popular staple styles that we bring every season in different colours; she can be worn during the day and can take you through to the evening. With her simple, yet sophisticated shirt dress design reminiscent of 50’s swing dresses she’s a versatile piece that every vintage babe needs in their wardrobe!

The olive green can also be worn in both high summer and layered up for winter. With this look we wanted a vintage picnic vibe for those summer strolls in the park.
We’ve paired her with our Heidi; what says picnic better than a wicker bag? She gives you the choice of smaller straps to use as a handbag or use the longer strap and wear her as a shoulder bag. Pack a cool bag inside along with some refreshing drinks so you’re ready for the sun!

As we’re going for a woodland theme and sticking to earthy colours we have also included our Elizabeth high heel which are very reminiscent of 1950’s summer shoes. She comes complete with brogueing detail around the edges where the colours change for a classic look. Why not add our Sia bamboo bangle to compliment the earthy colours of our green 1950’s swing dress and wicker handbag?

Last but not least, for the final touch we’ve used our Claire hair flower in ivory to tie the entire outfit together and give her that fun and feminine 1950’s summer look!

Our tropical outfit is perfect for the peak of high summer when you want to adorn yourself in all the juicy, fruity goodness. Our Jade tropical fruit swing dress is sure to give you a craving for a fruit salad! She features a border print complete with hibiscus flowers, watermelon slices and pineapples and we’ve paired her with matching aesthetics to bring your fruity outfit together. Her adjustable, spaghetti straps are sure to keep you cool while keeping your vintage vibes and comes complete with a large belt to cinch in your waist.

First of all we paired her with our watermelon slice shoulder bag, an adorable addition to compliment the watermelons in your dress. To balance out the red we have added our Veronica high heels but you can also swap these for the green Veronica’s as well. Our Jade is so versatile and easy to accessorise with! The possibilities of this outfit are endless when focusing on the four colours featured in the print – orange, yellow, red and green. Mix and match our Jade in any way you like!

We have also paired her with our pineapple acrylic drop earrings to bring in more of that fruity goodness. We have added our yellow Claire hair flower for your hair style. Why not find some hibiscus hair flowers online that you can also pair with our Jade as well?
